Cold Brew Recipe: How to Make Cold Brew with the Hario Mizudashi Mini
Learn how to make smooth, refreshing cold brew with the Hario Mizudashi. Step-by-step recipe, brewing tips and our favourite coffee recommendation.
When the temperatures rise, few things are more refreshing than a glass of cold brew. Unlike iced coffee, which is brewed hot and then chilled, cold brew is extracted slowly with cold water over several hours. The result is a coffee that's naturally sweet, smooth and remarkably refreshing.
The Hario Mizudashi Coffee Pot is one of the easiest ways to make cold brew at home. Simply prepare your brew the night before and wake up to a full pot of ready-to-drink cold coffee. Perfect for slow mornings, warm afternoons or sharing with friends.

Why Cold Brew?
Cold brew is more than just cold coffee. The slow extraction draws out a different balance of flavors than hot brewing. Expect:
- Natural sweetness
- Low bitterness
- A smooth, rounded body
- A clean, refreshing cup
Fruit-forward coffees, in particular, reveal an entirely new side when brewed cold.

Cold Brew Recipe
- Coffee: 50 g
- Water: 600 ml
- Grind size: medium-coarse (like sea salt)
- Brewing time: 8 to 12 hours in the refrigerator
Step-by-Step
1. Grind Your Coffee
Grind 50 g of coffee to a medium-coarse setting. Grinding too fine may result in a cloudy and slightly bitter brew.
2. Fill the Filter
Place the ground coffee into the Mizudashi filter basket and insert it into the brewer.
3. Add Water
Slowly pour in 600 milliliters of still water. Filtered or bottled water will generally produce a cleaner, sweeter cup than heavily mineralized tap water.
4. Let It Brew
Leave the coffee to steep for 8 to 12 hours in the refrigerator.
5. Serve
Remove the filter basket and serve your cold brew over plenty of ice. For an extra refreshing twist, top it up with chilled water or tonic.Unsere Bohnenempfehlung
